Family Update

Casitas Care Center, as previously shared, is deeply saddened that a resident has taken his own life at our facility. Working closely and in full cooperation with the Los Angeles Police Department, we have learned that the resident shot himself with a firearm provided by a relative.

The presence of firearms at our facility is strictly prohibited. In the years we have been providing care, this is the first time our “no firearm policy” has been violated, and with a tragic result. Ensuring the care, safety, and well-being of our patients and staff is our highest priority. We are reviewing our procedures to determine if anything can be done to prevent this from ever happening again.

Again, our sincerest condolences go out to the resident’s family during this difficult time.
